We are staying overnight in a beautiful guest house on an island in the middle of the Mekong River. Bonsai plants abound, the canals lap at our doorstep. Fruit such as rambutan, longan, and milk apples grow in abundance. For all of our latest adventures in Vietnam, check out my husband’s blog.

Another side of Montreal’s unique architecture:  the black wrought iron spiral staircases. Seen only in Quebec and New Orleans, placed outdoors in response to Quebec and N’orlean civil law (french civil code) where indoor stairways were considered rooms and taxed accordingly. Same for closets which explains the abundance of Quebeçois armoires built to hold clothing. […]

Cottony clouds
